iFixit tears down Google’s new Pixel smartphone

Google only started shipping their new Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones this week, but as with most smartphones, that hasn’t stopped the team over at iFixit from tearing it down.

Today, iFixit released their tear-down of the new pIxel providing a closer look at what to expect from the first smartphone that has been designed and made by Google.

For all teardowns, iFixit gives the device that they are tearing down a repairability score from 1-10, 1 being the most difficult to repair and 10 being the easiest.

For the Google Pixel, iFixit gave the new smartphone a repairability score of six out of ten.

They said that the phone comes with many components that could be easily replaced, it comes with a battery that features a pull tab for removing and replacing it when needed, however, they did say that the phone’s display has a very thin frame, which could cause the phone to bend, or otherwise be damaged.
